pont d’eno · ibiza
Some spectacular views can only be intuited. Pont d’Eno may seem very formal, but it’s actually a manifesto, a declaration of intent to show how to live in a house that enterily integrates the indoor and the outdoor. The pergolas – a cover that’s not fully a cover, a shadow in the half light- will double the surface of the house to connect it permanently to the plain and to those surprising vanishing points that can only emerge from gentle slopes, from ground level to the distant hills.
Pont d’Eno is a game of tiles and a realization that sometimes things happen by themselves. For the concrete, that ‘pique’ of the architects, did not lead the project in the first place. We integrate and work on the material with no standards, wrapping it in wooden slats, like old framers used to do. Then the concrete reveals its chest and demands to stay there, to exploit the trace of the mold, no matter how specific or abstract it is.
